The diving industry is thriving in Brockville and throughout the 1000 Islands region. The new Maritime Discovery Centre is being created to help increase public awareness about the need to preserve our underwater heritage.

The 1000 Islands Region is home to a large number of shipwrecks and is one of the world's best fresh-water shipwreck diving destinations. The crystal clear water clarity, due in large part to the accidental introduction of the zebra mussel (Dreissenia polymorpha), has made these shipwrecks easier to see and enjoy.
